A Day In Our Life

Heading east towards Othello we came across a huge herd of cows.

How do you feed a herd that big?  Here's one way.

Every March Othello hosts a  Sandhill Crane Festival, celebrating 35,000 Sandhill Cranes as they migrate north along the Pacific Flyway to their breeding grounds in Alaska.  We hoped to see a few stragglers and we did, from a great distance.  Their vocalizations were unmistakable.

Perhaps we'll try and get here in March next year.  I bet it's quite a sight.

As we drive along in our Crane Hunt we hear a Western Meadowlark singing away.

He doesn't hang around for an encore.

We visit the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge and its basalt rock formations.

It's a landscape of sagebrush, rocky hills, lakes and canyons.

Is this a good place for lunch?.

You bet!
