We did a little beach-combing.

And of course took loads of pictures.

I watched some small sandpipers race up and down the water's edge.

Then back to the hotel we went, ready for dinner.

Day Two
It was already raining when we awoke but we won't melt,
so after breakfast we headed to Ocean Shores to find
Damon Point State Park and do a little hiking in the rain.

One side of the Point faces the Ocean - lots of waves and driftwood.

The other side is sheltered with gentle waves lapping the shore
and more vegetation.  We decided to start on this side.

I loved looking at the shells and seaweeds.

Three jaunty Mergansers were out for a wet morning swim.

We're nearing the Point now - coming to a protected wildlife area.

I spied a Loggerhead Shrike - a new bird for me.

Tim spotted this young eagle, buffeted by the winds.
He sat on his perch the whole time we were in that area.
A mature Bald Eagle flew by several times to check him.

Tim also spotted this Loon who immediately vanished underwater.
I waited and waited but he didn't surface in my vicinity.

Now we're walking back down the Wild Side.
It was wet and windy and we got soaked.

The crashing waves deposited piles of foam on the beach.
