I was looking forward to taking my new camera to the Zoo.  As we drew near, I opened my camera bag and saw with dismay that I'd picked up my old camera by mistake.  Dang it!  They do look a lot alike in a darkened room.  Luckily both cameras take the same batteries and picture cards so all was not lost.

We're currently in the middle of a heat wave.  Smoke from forest fires up north  clouds our skies and the air quality's not great.  A number of the animals  stayed in their dens.  Here are some who ventured out.

Well hi there!  Haven't seen you for a while.  Gotta Popsicle?

Did someone say Popsicle?  Oh please give me one too.

So what's the weather gonna be today?  I dunno.  Hot, hot, hot I bet.

Hah, nobody's looking.  Goody, goody!!

All for me! Snarf, snarf, snarf!  Gobble, gobble, gobble.  Burp!

You didn't see that, did you?

In the Molback's Butterfly Pavilion a Julia lands on a bright flower.

A couple of Zebra Longwings relax on a leaf.

Freshly-hatched Monarchs dry themselves on a fir tree.
It looks like a Living Christmas Tree.

A White Peacock balances carefully on a leaf.

A Painted Lady?? spreads her wings ready to sleep.

Here's a Palamedes Swallowtail, resting on a bush.

Outside there's a patio and a garden full of bright flowers.
It's sponsored by Microsoft to attract bees, and it does.

A couple of bees try to share a flower.

With classical music playing gently in the background it was very relaxing
to watch butterflies and bees.  Thanks very much, Molback's and Microsoft.
